1Install

Install in one click from the Shopify App Store.

The plugin is a standard Shopify app. Search for Packio, click Install, approve the permissions, done. No code changes to your theme. No developer required.

  • ~30 seconds from search to installed
  • 5 minimal scopes — read products/orders/fulfillments, write order tags
  • Free to install — you only pay for Packio packaging usage
  • Uninstall anytime from Shopify Admin → Apps

2Connect

Paste your Packio API key. We validate it before saving.

The first time you open the app, you'll see a single screen asking for your Packio API key (you get it from app.getpackio.com). We call our /v1/ping endpoint to verify the key works before letting you save — so you never end up with broken settings.

  • Test or Production environment toggle — pilot safely
  • Default opt-in for new products you add later
  • Checkout badge control — show or hide the "Ships in Packio" label
  • Loyalty reward code — discount or credit applied automatically when customers return
— Time required

About 2 minutes. The merchant doesn't need to talk to engineering.

3Pick products

Choose which variants ship reusable. Per SKU.

Not every product fits in Packio (we don't do fragile glassware in our current sizes). The plugin lists every Shopify variant; you toggle on the ones that fit, and pick a Packio size from the dropdown. The warehouse picks the right unit at pack time.

  • 13 Packio sizes available — bags (Mini/Midi/Maxi), e-com boxes (Nano/Pico/Micro/Mega), intra boxes (Kilo/Giga/Exa/Zeta/Peta/Tera)
  • Toggle in real time — change anytime, takes effect on the next order
  • Bulk enable via API for catalogs over 500 SKUs
  • Per-collection rules coming Q4 2026 — enable an entire collection at once

4Customer checks out

Customer sees the Packio badge at checkout.

When a customer's cart contains a Packio-enabled product, they see a small badge confirming the order will ship reusable — with the return reward shown right there. The badge inherits your store's style; we don't force a Packio brand colour into your checkout.

  • Renders on cart, checkout, and order confirmation — three reinforcement touchpoints
  • Live CO₂ avoided estimate per order — pulled from our LCA model
  • Translatable — Greek & English copy built in, others in progress
  • A/B-testable via Shopify Scripts for higher-tier stores
  • Four payment modes — free, fee, refundable deposit, or 14-day deposit-forfeit. See all four →
— Conversion hypothesis

The badge is positioned so shoppers see it as a value-add rather than friction. We expect a positive impact on checkout completion vs the control flow — actual conversion data will be published once we have multi-month live pilot results.

5Orders auto-register

Every order is logged in the dashboard automatically.

The moment Shopify fires the orders/create webhook, the plugin registers a Packio shipment via our API, gets a unique QR code, and stores everything against the Shopify order ID. Your warehouse sees the assigned size; your dashboard shows the full picture.

  • Live pool inventory — total units, in-circulation, in-warehouse, by size
  • Return rate KPI — measured per route, per SKU, per period
  • CO₂ avoided counter — quarterly total for your sustainability report
  • Shipment history with status filtering and search by QR code
  • CSRD export in 2 clicks — auditor-ready format

6Customer returns it

Customer gets a return email. Map opens. Drop-off in 3 minutes.

A few days after delivery, your customer gets a friendly email (sent from your domain, branded by your store) explaining how to return the Packio. They tap a link, see a map of nearby drop-off points on their phone, and walk to the closest one. The whole flow is under 3 minutes.

  • Email from your domain — not from Packio. Maintains your brand.
  • Dedicated Packio app — consumer app in active development, launching 2027
  • Closest 5 points shown with walking distance and live opening hours
  • QR code on the package works for self-scan if they prefer
  • Return network rolling out 2027 across Greece

7Reward fires

Customer scans → reward goes out. Repeat-purchase flywheel.

The moment the customer drops off their Packio at any return point, our API fires an inbound webhook to your store. The plugin verifies the signature, marks the shipment returned, and sends the customer the discount code you configured. Average delay: under 60 seconds from scan to inbox.

  • Configurable reward — discount code, store credit, donation, points
  • Sent from your email platform (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, SendGrid, etc.) — the plugin triggers; you control the design
  • Tracks redemption — see in dashboard which returners use their reward
  • Segment-ready — auto-tag customer as "Packio Returner" for future targeting
— Repeat-purchase data

The return scan becomes a marketing touchpoint, not a cost. When pilots run long enough to provide repeat-purchase data, real numbers will appear here — until then, we don't publish ones we can't prove.

Early access

Want the plugin before the public launch?

The Shopify plugin enters private beta in Q2 2026, ahead of the public Shopify App Store launch in Q3. Early-access stores get full support from our engineering team during setup and help shape the final feature set.
